Boca to Face Millonarios in Tribute to Miguel Ángel Russo

Boca will open its 2026 season this Wednesday when it hosts Millonarios from Colombia in a friendly match that will pay tribute to the late former manager of both clubs, Miguel Ángel Russo. The match will take place at 19:00 at the Alberto J. Armando Stadium, better known as 'La Bombonera', and can be watched via Disney+. Ahead of this match, Boca will be without three players. These are defender Rodrigo Battaglia (Achilles tendonitis), Chilean offensive midfielder Carlos Palacios (knee blow), and Uruguayan forward Edinson Cavani (back problem). Despite these absences, head coach Claudio Úbeda, who guided the 'Xeneize' to the semi-finals of the 2025 Torneo Clausura of the Professional Football League, is already said to have defined the starting lineup, as found out by Agencia Noticias Argentinas. In goal will be Agustín Marchesín, while the defense will be formed by Juan Barinaga, Lautaro Di Lollo, Ayrton Cosa, and Lautaro Blanco.
